The Holy Spirit has a special importance in Korean Protestant Christianity and in the Christian community in the Korean diaspora. What the gospel of John concludes about Jesus could also be said about the Holy Spirit:
"there are also many other things that Jesus did; if every one of them were written down, … the world itself could not contain the books that would be written." (John 21:25)
In what follows we have focused on four main themes. First, while the Holy Spirit is essentially the love and joy of God, it is present in history in different modes or ways. The other three themes are the three significant ways in which the Holy Spirit is present in the Korean community in the United Church: as a source of hope, as the gift of peace and as unrest.
